Built in 1913, Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof is located in the center of the first district of Vienna, only a few steps from the Hofburg Imperial Palace. Free WiFi is available. The hotel has great kerb appeal & is situated in an excellent location to explore the city as you are within short walking distances to everything. The comfort this hotel provides is amazing with good quality beds & pillows offering you a wide choice ranging from firm to soft. The cleanliness is 10/10 you cannot fault it. The only thing I thought there would be seeing as this is a 5* hotel was underfloor heating in the bathroom but it wasn’t a big deal the hotel was very warm all of the time anyway. The breakfast was a tad pricy for what it was, but was still very good quality with a selection of hot & cold options. I loved sitting in the bar area on the comfortable sofas. The waiting staff at the bar were very friendly & attentive. We were left a gift in our room with it being December that we visited, it was a bag of nuts oranges & a chocolate Santa wafer which we thought was a lovely touch, plus there is free popcorn made for you at reception if you fancy some! I would definitely book this hotel again when I return to this fabulous city it was like home from home for me.
I feel the reception staff could be a bit friendlier.

Hotel is ideally located in the heart of the 1st district.
I arrived to discover that my room didn’t include a desk — apparently a luxury reserved for guests who “book a better category,” as reception so helpfully explained. After some negotiation, they offered to move me to another room… which turned out to be on a tiny, dark street where you need the lights on 24/7. The room temperature was impressive: I didn’t know it was possible to recreate Arctic conditions indoors. Large old windows, heating via AC only — the place simply refused to warm up. I had a 4-hour T-con to host and genuinely can’t remember ever freezing that much in my life. When I asked for a radiator, I was told, of course, no — but they could provide an extra blanket. How generous. Fast forward two days: I now have a cold, feel terrible, and paid €300 a night for the pleasure. I will very definitely not be returning to this place.
