Location, views from the windows, being close to the airport and local neighborhood.
The beds were terrible, like 3-4" thick and hard as a rock. The TV didn't work at all, and the AC barely worked. The blinds are falling apart and bathroom has modly grout. It is very expensive and underwhelming.
Also the spa was overpriced and didn't meet their own standards, the 2 hour spa lasted onlly 1.15 and the massage was only 30 mins of it (supposed to be 1-1.15 itself).

Our beds and the sheets we were provided were full of bugs that bit us at night. When given the chance to move to a different room, that one also had the some bugs. The manager never replied to our requests.

The property was nice, in a good location and the staff was very friendly. The room had a refrigerator and a small balcony. The Wi-Fi was strong, the hot water was good and the AC worked well. There was a small workspace in the room which was nice.
The spa was a nightmare. The "massage" that I purchased was provided by a woman who spent the entire time texting on her phone on one hand and semi-touching various body parts with the other hand. She often forgot that she was giving a massage and would stand for an entire minute with the hand just resting on your body. Fortunately, I was tired from two red-eye flights so I took the time to sleep since getting a massage was not going to happen. At the end of the hour the masseuse stood at the door drinking and with her hand out waiting to be tipped.
The issue was brought to the owner's attention who is very kind and offered a replacement massage. Unfortunately after changing my schedule to accommodate the limited openings they had for the replacement massage the therapist forgot to show up.

I love Pousada Guanabara Garden was amazing. I have never been to a hotel that was so warm,hopspitable and kind. The Staff was great. I was treated very well, provided for and very much looked after. I stayed at PGG for a little over a week during my 3 week stay in Brazil, and I wish I would have been there the entire time. On my birthday I had an amazing 2hr spa treatment and also received a birthday Cake to my room! Marta and all of the Staff were such a blessing. I the courtyard rea is also beautiful and with all of the pictures that I took, it was apparent that I loved it! I only have great things to say about this place!
I don't have any major complaints. My room was a little small but again, there is Nothing that I would change...Besides I didn't come to Brazil to stay in my room.

Good size balcony in room 7.
Water on the stairs to breakfast every morning and no sunbeds is annoying. Also dont eat in the evening. Not good.

Location, Ilha do Governador is a lovely place to stay, good restaurants, not that far away from the Pousada.
The bedroom size was good, but plastic curtains put me off straight away it was awful, bathroom was dated, toilet seat was broken and one of the shower taps was broken too and the shower window gave no privacy whatsoever as the cheap film the was there was ripped in different places.
Clean but I had to request not more bleach to be used as it was too much and smell made me sick.
Swimming pool looked dated, the only thing great in that area was the view.
Members of staff gave a 5 star service from reception to cleaning staff, outstanding.
