Before the trip, we already knew that we would be landing in Shanghai at 3am in the morning and be at the hotel around 6am so we called beforehand to see if there is any chance that we could check in earlier. The person on the phone was nice and said they would try their best to let us check in early so we, in particular our daughter could rest a bit after a 14-hour flight.
We arrived at the hotel around 6am and the hotel manager was yelling profanity in front of our 7-year daughter. That left a miserable first impression. I do not care if people swear in their private life, but please, that's not the first thing you wanna hear with your kids when you first walk into any hotel, let alone Hyatt.
We stated our purpose and the wish to check-in. "No, that's not possible."
Can we at least stay in the lobby and freshen up? " No, there is no lobby."
How can a 4-star hotel like Hyatt has no lobby, no place to sit for its guest? " Because we are a commercial entity, we do not have any obligation to provide any seating area."
How about the nice-looking area right behind the reception? "No, that area is only for events, not for guests".
By then my daughter was just so tired and wanted to sleep on the tiled floor, he directed us to a bar table with 3 bar stools and told us that was the only option. The breakfast area is not open yet, but if it is, we need to pay CNY 189 per person for the breakfast. I do not mind paying a higher price for breakfast, but we weren't hungry. We were simply tired from the long-haul travel and wanted somewhere to sit down a bit.
We were so frustrated that we decided to find somewhere, anywhere, that we could let our daughter sleep a bit. The hotel manager saved my contact and promised to message me when the room was ready for check-in.
Big surprise, he never called or messaged.

location is very good, easy access to subway. Right next to shopping malls, a lot of good options for food.
Room A/C broke once, there was water accumulating on the ground. Though the fix was done the next day in a timely manner. It could be dangerous at night as one might slip and fall.

Breakfast was great with selections ranges from eastern and western food. The coffee was ok but on the bland side. Location of this hotel is great. Very close to the subway.
A/c leaked water but the fix was quick In the next day. But there was water accumulated on the floor and could be dangerous for older ppl.

I like the safety. I like the cleanliness of the hotel and room. I lkke the location of the hotel.
I wish there is good lobby area so that guests can have a good time with other guests too. I wish there is other meals available. I wish there is better facilities available. I wish all toiletries are changed everyday.

Nice hotel north of the bund. Easy accessible as it is on the middle ring road. A shopping center is directly attached including food court.
The smell in the room wasnt nice. Either someone has smoked in before or in the neighboring rooms.
