Hosted in an 1929 stone building, New Helvetia Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Cyprus, ran by the 4th generation of owners and offers free WiFi, and on-site fitness facilities. It is located in Pano Platres, at the foot of the Troodos Mountains. Platres Athletic Center can be reached within a 5-minute drive. Trooditissa Monastery is a 10-minute drive away. A 250-year-old pine tree growing through the roof is the centerpiece of the lobby, which also features an ancient brick fireplace. Guests can relax in the TV corner while enjoying a drink from the lounge bar. Certified Cypriot breakfast is served in the morning. The rooms of the vintage-style New Helvetia Hotel have private bathrooms, and are equipped with radio and satellite TV. All rooms have a balcony looking out onto the pine trees. Picturesque place, historic building, nice terrace for breakfast and cozy lobby.
no noise insulation, youll hear everything from the next room, old frames - I think in winter it will be very cold. Beds are creaking, but mattress and pillows are comfortable, warm blanket.

Old romantic hotel with good breakfasts. Some rooms are a bit old but they are being modernized. I got a room with a new bathroom which was nice. The staff was very friendly.
The was a bit humidity mold on the wall in my room and I could feel the smell in the room. It was also very cold the first night. The second day the heating was on and it was great comfort improvement.

Was a beautiful hotel, first stayed in 2017.
1 Young man obviously not a people person, everytime we saw him he was sitting down. 20 for 2 brandy and cokes. Stayed last year and was offered omelette for breakfast, this time the even the coffee was bad, jam was bad. Paid 160 for the room and was so disappointed. The stair bannister was grey with dirt, whole place neds a good clean and dusting. I have previously recommended this hotel. Definitely not anymore. The lady who ran it would not be happy now.

Amaizing nature around the hotel and lovely view. Interesting interiors. Helpful stuff. Absolutely serene atmosphere before weekend but a little noisy during the weekend. The beginning of September is a must time to visit that hotel if you are looking for the place to have a rest from heat and hustle.
It seemed to us that the food for breakfast wasn't changed during the week. That's why it felt like it was not fresh by Thu-Fri.

Breakfast was ok. The hotel is in dire need of renovation. The staff is very nice and tries to be helpful but this cannot detract from the fact that the room was badly furnished, dark and that the bathroom (especially the shower/tub) was wholly inadequate. The walls are thin, if your neighbours make a little noise, you will hear it. For this price it is not good enough.
