This is a very comfortable hotel and has high quality facilities.
The hotel is slightly out of the main tourist attractions. This is only a 15 minute walk and gives a great view across the Elbe.

This is one of those rare hotels that fills all the boxes; excellent beds, the breakfast is truly delicious as is the food in the restaurant. The location is good because within 5 minutes you are in a local shopping street, and in 10-15 minutes in town. 10 minutes the other way is a trendy / hip area full of ethnic and vegan restaurants. Parking in the street is cheap and safe, but there is a garage too. For those who would like a cigar with their brandy there is a cigar lounge. The personel are friendly and very helpful!

The room was a good size and overall, very comfortable.
The breakfast was good, with a broad selection of quality products.
Overall, the staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly at check-in.
There were a couple of things that were annoying.
1. It's hard to believe that a 5* hotel room would not have sockets beside the bed for charging your phone, etc. But no, the only sockets were being used for the bedside lamps. A €5 powerboard (or, given it is a lux hotel, wireless charging pads in the bedside tables) could have solved the issue. Why frustrate guests this way?
2. The TV would have been a modern flat screen in 2005. In a luxury hotel, we would expect a reasonably large smart TV with casting capability and a decent selection of channels. The 10cm thick, 32" relic in our room had just the most basic free to air channels, most of which were German. A modern 55" smart TV can be bought at Saturn for less than what we paid for a single night, so there really is no excuse.
3. The sofa in the room did look vibrant and funky, but the seats were so deep that it broke your back to sit on it for more than a few minutes. I would happily have traded some style for function in this case.
4. It was very hot during our stay, and on our last night, we took drinks from our room downstairs to sit on the terrace for a few minutes and enjoy our last night there. Whilst I get that it's perfectly normal to expect that the terrace would only be for paying guests, in this case we had been there three nights and it was after 10 PM. The terrace was 3/4 empty, and given the location and hour, there were no more people coming. Nevertheless, we were informed, rather abrubptly, that our presence was not welcome and were told we had to leave. I genuinely believe this was unnecessary and that a good bar manager would know when to show a little discretion. It definitely put a dark spot on an otherwise happy stay.

At first I was hesitant in booking a hotel which was not in the Old Town but it was the best thing to do as you were close enough to walk to the main sights whilst being able to escape the crowds. There were plenty of restaurants nearby which were reasonably priced. Our room was spacious and extremely comfortable. The hotel staff were very professional and eager to help with any inquiries. There was an underground carpark the cost of which was included in our package as was a very good buffet breakfast.
