Disappointing Experience – Poor Service and Room Downgrade Without Notice I stayed at the Maritim Hotel Düsseldorf on April 15th, and unfortunately, it was one of the most stressful hotel experiences I’ve had. After a long journey and just an hour before check-in, I received a call from someone at the hotel telling me it was fully booked and I’d have to be transferred elsewhere. The call was abrupt, unfriendly, and completely unprofessional. I explained that I booked this hotel specifically because of its location next to the airport—I had an early flight the next morning—and I wasn’t willing to change last minute. When I arrived at the hotel, surprisingly, they gave me a room like nothing had happened. No apology, no acknowledgment of the phone call. But instead of the Superior Double Room I booked and paid for, I was given a small, basic standard room with single beds and small blankets—completely unacceptable. One staff member quietly told me that the chaos was due to hotel management accepting a large group for a special party, seemingly at the expense of existing guests. This was a terrible experience: No transparency Poor communication Room downgrade without explanation or compensation Guests clearly not prioritized I expected much better from a hotel of this standard, especially one connected to an international airport. I do not recommend staying here—especially if you’re looking for reliability, professionalism, and comfort after a long trip.

If you are flying from Düsseldorf the next day, there is no better location, three minutes walk to the departures hall. Really good breakfast. Comfortable and modern room.

Excellent breakfast. Good and big hotel. A large room. Efficient check-in and check-out. We used the hotel to sleep in for the morning flight tomorrow. The hotel is less than 100 m away on foot (covered crossing).
