I welcome you to the Hotel Am Schlosspark in Essen- Borbeck since 25 Sept 2009. With the Self Check-In-Terminal (no staff on site) you can check-in anytime (downstairs at the reception) from 1pm, no matter what time, even midnight. Check-out is until 10 am. For self check-in you need your booking number (full information with the code and pictures will be sent to you by email).For further procedures, please follow the information on the terminal display. Important: the payment is possible only with EC or credit card! Please note that cancelation is possible only up to 24 hours before arrival.In case of cancelation in the 24 hours before arrival, the guest will pay an amount equal to the total price. Parking is free of charge and subject to availability. Total 7 parking spaces, 2 in front of the garage and 5 in underground parking. Reservation is not possible. This hotel is a direct streetcar ride from the center of Essen (15 minutes) and a 10-minute walk from Borbeck Castle and Brauhaus DAMPFE. The streetcar is just a few steps away, and the Essen-Borbeck train station is a 2-minute walk away, with many stores and pharmacies in the center of Essen-Borbeck. The highway is only 5-7 minutes drive away. Bicycle route is also just 2 minutes away from hotel.Free welcome drinks, such as water and coffee, are included in the room rate. A rich breakfast buffet is available for an extra charge. All rooms at Hotel Am Schlosspark feature cable TV, free Wi-Fi and electric shutters, a private bathroom with a hairdryer, and free toiletries such as a toothbrush with integrated toothpaste, razor blade, shampoo, and a vanity mirror. A balcony is available in some rooms. In August/September 2023, the bathroom areas were renovated and equipped with new shower stalls. The breakfast room is located in the basement. Breakfast hours: Mon. - Fri. > 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Sat. - Sun. and holidays > 8:00 am -10:00 am. Good size, clean room with coffee table. Comfy bed with close access to power sockets. Bathroom was clean with properly working showers. Self check-in is an advantage. Location is good in the quiet area of the town, with walkable distance to restaurants and shops.
There is "underground" garage (entry from street level, hotel located above it) but is not closing for the night time. Loudly, banging noises from hotel's main entrance door (the door was hard to open and close).

We had a balcony in the room with cozy floor where you can seat on one of the comfy seats and hear singing birds, watching for lots of green around (trees and bushes) and even find an ashtray. Location is good in the quiet area of the town, with walkable distance to restaurants and shops.
Room was a bit too small for longer stay; with open wardrobe where you were forced to sit in it because of the lack of space. Furniture remember better time and bit of TLC could help. Bed was to soft for us, pillows were more yellowish than white (we found this on the next day). Shower needs attention as water leaks out of hose instead of shower heads. There is "underground" garage but is not closing for the night time.

The room was clean, inviting and had everything we needed. The breakfast was simple but very nice, it offered everything we wanted. Free parking in the garage was a real bonus.
Entry to the front door is via a code. We found a code in the Booking.com app for our reservation but it did not work. We contacted the staff via the phone number found on the front door. He sent us a different code which worked. The bed was too firm for us but that is just personal preference.

I enjoyed staying in this hotel. The room was the perfect size and arrangement for a solo traveller. If you take the train, you can be at the city center in 10 minutes. It is very good value for money. I was greeted with coffee and a bottle of water in my room, which was very nice after a long day of travel. Also, Mr. Rudi was very helpful with the invoicing and responded quickly. I can definitely recommend this place.
