Price at booking.com is much higher than at hotel directly. The staff was rude on check in procedure, because my creditcard has my initials while my booking.com profile has my fist name. I was being chased for it every hour in the morning while travelling here. Interior of the room and bathroom look at least 50 years old.
Didn't get the room with queensize bed that I booked, but a room with 2 single beds. The staff was rude again while I brought it up next morning. I didn't do it at midnight before when I checked in, because reception was full of noisy and drunk student like guest that made me wait long time already.

Staff was very responsive when assistance or questions were addressed. Although a medium-size hotel, everything was comfortable and cleaned. Breakfast was served on time and several options were served during the time I spent there.

Very friendly staff - they could speak English, apart from the lady at breakfast who didnt speak a word of English and seemed surprised I couldnt speak German. Very sorry. I can speak English French Italian Spanish but I never learned German
A German friend of mine was staying same hotel so we share taxi ride to our venue, Freak Show in Essen-Steele, which was very nice
No kettle facilities in the room couldnt make a cup of coffee when I woke up which I like to do
The walls are very thin and 2 ladies in the next room were talking loudly and woke me up

Great location, good price. Staff was nice even though many could not speak English. Nice breakfast.
The room was not completely cleaned when we arrived. They left some socks from previous guests. Toilet brush was dirty.
They allow people to smoke just in the front door of the hotel.
