Very Good
The location is fabulous, with nice walks and views. Dinner was very good and abundant. The room was spacious and warm (it was snowing outside), the bed very comfortable. There was a hairdryer and a nice bath with very hot water and good pressure. Staff very polite, efficient and friendly.
Practically no wi-fi. An extra pillow would have been great. A bit of a walk with suitcases in the snow and up a long flight of stairs from the building where the reception is to the Schloss where the rooms were.

Wonderful
A beautiful property in a lovely location. We were given an incorrect room on arrival and the boss went out of his way to make sure we were happy with another room.
Our shower was a bit difficult to use as it had to be held in the hand but that is to be expected in an old property. One member of staff made it clear that she felt we were being difficult by asking for the room we had booked. Luckily the boss provided great customer service.

Good
We liked the countryside and the location. Unfortunatelly we didn t stay in the main building (castle), as we wished, but the neighbouring building, where we stayed, was fine.
Unfortunatelly there is zero offer of activies the accomodation offered and also no pro-active client approach to arrange any activity you asked for. No map of neighbourhood for free, no possibility to rent bicycles in this place.

Wonderful
The property is of historical interest and has been lovingly restored. The grounds are spectacular and there are lots of trails to explore the surrounding countryside.
Maybe it was Covid, but the dinner menu was limited and very ho hum, typical German food with no frills and no imagination. The dinner waitstaff were young and inexperienced, but we would have cheerfully overlooked that had the food been better. Breakfast buffet was altogether another story. The offerings were extensive, delicious, and the staff were very friendly.

Picturesque location. Comfortable room inside the castle with an amazing view on the lake. High quality dishes based on local products served at the restaurant at fair prices. Having dinner with the outstanding view on the castle is a unique experience. Highly recommended!

Good
The location is amazing! Very well-maintained and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The rooms are spacious and the breakfast has a large variety. We would absolutely recommend it for a long weekend getaway as there is plenty to do in the area. However you can tell the management fired the staff during corona and now the staff is entirely new. Therefore the only thing lacking is the service.
The first thing was the receptionist. She was very unfriendly during our entire stay. She first told us if we want to rent bikes we need to call a company directly, even though we dont have cell service. Other guests kindly asked for them to arrange it instead, which we see as entirely fair. Next it is written in the guide anyone can use the sun room at the top of the castle to relax. She told us we couldnt because we didnt stay there. The manager then corrected her and said we can simply ask for a key when we want to go (she then tried to add it is for an extra charge). We then asked her for the key and she said no we cant do that try to find another place to relax. We in the end had the correct key all along, the management was just unaware as they were new. If we would have known how unhelpful she was we would have rented a room in the castle, not the adjacent house. The restaurant was also so severely understaffed we waited 50 minutes and never received a menu so we left. Given this is during corona times so it probably influences it. However after the first few times of waiting for an hour to be served we decided to eat elsewhere, even if it meant driving somewhere. All in all the property would have got a 8-9/10 (some small details to improve). However with the extremely service we would give it a 6/10. Hopefully this review is constructive and helps them to improve or learn to not fire their entire staff next time. The family absolutely has enough money to keep the staff and its a pity to see the workers now overworked as a result. We would not necessarily fault the service personnel, rather the management.

Fair
Great location although isolated. Restaurant food very good and reasonably priced.
Your web site says breakfast in the castle's observation tower but it wasn't. It was in the adjoining building. No access to hotel facilities at all. No kettle in room so unable to make tea and restaurant closed at 8pm so no other means of getting a hot drink. Room which was in adjoining building to the castle was nothing like the photos on your site. The room had coombed ceiling making it feel cramped and dark. Bathroom had a kirby grip and hair from previous guest on the floor for the duration of our 3 night stay. Toiletries poor. Acoustics poor. We had to hunt for our room as not clear where it was. Person giving us keys was doubling up in restaurant and could not speak any english. This was more like an average B&B facility rather than a 4 star experience therefore not good value. We paid for facilities which we had no access to. Very disappointed.
