Pleasant
Good location, and the drinks delivery train was a nice touch.
Some of the staff were very abrupt, bordering on rude. Having booked a room for 3 people, being charged an additional 15 per night for a bed for the third person felt quite unreasonable.

after we gave up on trying to mitigate/survive the original room, we got upgraded to an extremely nice room in the second building.
we originally booked a cheap room and got a broilingly hot room without A/C that faced a nonstop coal fire. our baby wasn't sleeping it was so hot.

Breakfast was excellent - great choice. Evening meal in the restaurant was really good; both my son and I loved the food; delivery of drinks by train was a lovely touch. Location opposite the HSB station was a highlight. Room very comfortable and spacious
Lot of traffic noise during the day. There didn't seem to be a public room where you could sit and relax outside of your own room. I was not sure whether the bar area was only for restaurant guests

Perfect for visiting the steam railroad. Good balcony to take photos. Your evening beer in the restaurant delivered by garden-gauge train. Very helpful and friendly staff. Good German breakfast

The location, the proximity to the old town centre and view vof steam engine maintenance from the room window.
The restaurant serves a great breakfast and the a la' carte menu is not bad if one opts to have supper as well.
The main dining area has a nostalgic ambience with lots of erstwhile Railway artefacts and has a great view of the steam Railway yard where one can see steam engines refilling water and coal or shedding the cinders onto a pit. There are some working miniature train tracks with miniature trains running around the periphery wall and also on an overhead oval loop track. All in all, a great place for a steam train enthusiast like me.
It is definitely a bit pricey.
I thought the roomwas a bit cramped, especially for two people.

Location - close to rail and bus stations. Also close to town centre. Excellent spot for the railway fan being just across the road from the Harz railway's locomotive shed. Good breakfast.
Lack of air conditioning an issue given the unseasonably hot weather for early September.

A comfortable hotel opposite the Harzer Schmalspur Bahnen coaling facility. The room was in the annexe, modern and comfortable, The restaurant was fine and the portions generous. Breakfast was unexciting. The breakfast sittings are at 07.00, 08.00 and 09.00. It is best to book the 08.00 sitting before you arrive.
The bin men outside our window at 05.00.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and comfortable, the food was excellent and the location was perfect for the Harz Hountain Steam Railway. The waitresses were particularly friendly and communicative.

If you like trains, this is for you ! Immediately across the road from the Harz Mountain Railway station and view of the trains from the room was excellent ( we booked a "railway" room )

Fantastic location for steam buffs to be able to see up to 5 steam engines from my bedroom window (room 105) was heaven for me. Also a short walk to the historic town centre with it's medieval buildings
The Wifi was a little flaky and I would have liked coffee making facilities in my room
