The restaurant, restaurant staff and food, were all fabulous. The balcony in our room was great and the views over the gardens were fabulous.
The shower was broken and the floor to the shower was bending and felt like it was going to give way. This was similar to our last stay in 2021. We reported it then, but it seems it is still the same. The sink in the bathroom was broken. the plug did not stay in place to retain water and some days it was stuck so it would not let water out. Although the towels were changed daily, and the bins emptied, the room was not cleaned and bed was left unmade.

We stayed here on a Sunday so were unable to get dinner ( we were aware of this beforehand so came prepared). The hotel is situated in a very quiet village close to the Charente river and as we were cycling the river its location was good for us. The grounds are really extensive and kept in very good order. Secure storage for our bikes was available and easily accessible ( not always the case.) the breakfast was good and the staff very helpful.

Beautiful gardens. Private off street parking outside the room. Excellent dinner, particularly the dessert.
Room appeared dated, patio areas (outside room and restaurant) run down and shabby. Music coming from the bar area was playing quite late into the night.

We were very impressed when we arrived at this hotel. Our room was spacious and well equipped.we liked the ground floor room and its outlook over part of the garden. The grounds to this Hotel are large and very attractive. The outside terrace laid out for dinner was beautifully done.
Two main problems; the bed had a plastic type of under sheet that made a crackling sound with every move, and was very hot. The restaurant is let down by its appalling service, had to ask twice for our wine that took over 30 minutes to arrive, starters took a further 20 minute, the our main a further hour. A 7.30 booking finished shortly before 10. Maybe we were unfortunate and it was a very busy night. Certainly the restaurant was very full.

Pre arrival the hotel were really helpful. The room was huge and lovely, with it's its own private balcony. Loved it. The restaurant was great and the staff were brilliant. Very good choice of cognac and other drinks at the bar.
The bathroom had a strange layout. it was huge but the shower was a small cubicle. However, this is an observation and not a criticism and will not stop us returning.

Some of the features were a bit tired. Bathroom was felt cheaply done. It was clean though. I think I booked the last room so I would t be surprised if other rooms were better

Nice location, nice garden, good facilities.
Hotel checked in advance whether we wanted to have dinner at their restaurant- very well done, as often hotels dont and then are fully booked when you arrive.
We first did not get the room we had booked (with balcony, as we have small children and this gives us the possibility to drink something and talk when they are sleeping) - when we asked this was however (after saying that this is difficult) not really an issue and we got the room initially requested.
Rooms are certainly fine for the price paid, only issue was that the room was rather noisy (other guests, some kid playing piano downstairs until rather late without anyone apparently reacting, as it went on for 1+hour)

Loved that they gave us a free extra room when they realised we were all single guys and they had one last room spare. Really appreciate that. Like that they kept the chargers I stupidly left behind for when I rang ask if theyd find them.
The extra mile would have been to contact me when they found them but there may be a policy of claim your lost stuff in case it was the precious room occupant. Overall v good to excellent.

Stayed initially for two nights, WIFI very good onsite and property very well kept. Staff explained theCOVID 19 rules and all wore masks. Plenty of hand sanitiser available and patrons respected space around them too. Ended up staying four nights as restaurant, location, village its in all very good. I would recommend breakfast, plenty of choice. Dinner was very good, fixed menu, however four choices for starters and main course- tried them all, very good.
