Beautiful setting, pool lovely and very welcome on 30c days, the owner was very welcoming, made us feel at home. The grandness of the breakfast room and views over the river from the terrace were awesome.
The steepness of the stairs but this in no way detracted from a wonderful stay. We hope to return one day.

Wonderful
The location was superb and the medieval property beautifully adapted for its modern purpose.
All good apart from breakfast, which was expensive for what was offered.

Quirky old building in a fantastic location. Hosts could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Food was fantastic and the terrace restaurant an ideal location to watch the setting sun. A well organised team that work seamlessly.
Better sineage to where rooms and facilities are located. Only stayed the one night but would have liked more.

The location is brilliant, in a small village with breakfast terrace overlooking the Dordogne river. Good size room in rustic style. Parking outside the hotel was straightforward. We would stay again to explore the area further.
The room only had sheer gauze curtains, so privacy was lacking and the light streamed in early in the morning - we didn't realize until the next morning that there were wooden shutters we could have closed. The room was also a little dusty, probably the age of the hotel.

A TRULY MAGICAL REAL CASTLE-HOTEL in a wonderful location looking onto the Dordogne. Absolutely beautiful and exceptional in every way. Francoise is the most lovely lady you could ever meet and she makes certain that guests are very well looked after. The setting and rooms are gorgeous. Everything is a delight, with great attention to detail. We loved it.

Restaurant was excellent , Hotel seem to be run by a single really friendly lady Beautiful location but rather remote Definitely require own transportation Lovely duplex room
Reception to be manned more often . Our room had stairs which were wooden and rather dangerous we felt . Room lighting was not very good. Would have preferred toilet and bedroom on same level . Wish there had been a bar

The hotel is in an old fortress so something like that and above the village and the river so it looks stunning. The breakfast tasted well but it had not many choices and nothing special (like egg cooker or scrambled eggs and bacon) apart from a great chocolate and nut cake. The coffee was served by the staff, so no free refill. The coffee felt like simple filter coffee. The dinner was good but overpriced considering the size of the food. The staff spoke english. There were a lot of parking spaces around the hotel on the street which were for free. From some rooms and the restaurant you get a very nice view on the river. It is a good staring point to go to villages like Rocamadur by car.
Unfortunately our hotel room did nothing with the old building. Inside the room nothing reminded us of the fortress. The Walls were plain and painted white. In the public rooms they had the bare stone walls which looks more authentic. The furniture looked old (but not outworn) but did not fit the topic entirely as only some pieces fitted together. Especially a small sofa did not fit at all (everything made of wood, but a more modern grey and white sofa without any wood) and was standing into the room to hide fridge and safe (which was just laying on the fridge, not very safe). The rest of the hotel used the fortress theme better.
The bathroom was more old fashioned too with a bath tub. Unfortunately the bathub had no shower curtain or glas so we always had wet floor next to it and there was only soap (no shampoo) inside the bath tub. There was no elevator. The window in the bathroom had no proper curtain or roller blind. I felt like someone could easily see my upper body after using the shower standing outside on the parking lot as the curtain did not cover the whole window.
When we arrived (late but before the end of the check-in time) there was nobody at the reception. We had to look inside the nearby restaurant to find somebody. A sign telling you to go into the restaurant or with a phone numb er would have been nice. We waited for several minutes at the empty reception because it was the only sign where to go.
All together we were disappointed of the hotel because we expected to sleep in a fortress but it was more of an old (but clean) hotel. You can come here but it felt very ordinary

We had a very comfortable stay at La Terrasse with a room overlooking the river. Be aware that there are only steps to the rooms as it is a converted chateau-we just took small bags up to our room. There seemed to be plenty of parking available nearby. We booked the restaurant for the night of our stay and were very happy that we did as we had a fantastic meal.
The nearest town with shops and restaurants is across the river at St Sozy which is a bit of a walk or a short drive.
