The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous! The hotel already had decorated for Christmas time as well, so that was a nice touch. It was super central to Westport bustling part of town.
A little basic but great value for what is needed!

Good location in center of town, walkable to local shops, although these are not of much interest as they are based on tourists. There is a good supermarket in the town.

Clean, modern hotel in the center of Westport. A few steps away from great stores, restaurants and pubs. Westport is a good place to base your exploration of County Mayo.

The location of The Mariner was perfect. We drove into town at about the same time that the remnants of Hurricane Humberto arrived, and The Mariner was a safe, comfortable place to take shelter and prep to explore Westport. Our room was comfortable, the free breakfast was excellent, as was the lunch we enjoyed in the Bistro on the day we arrived. Westport was a lovely town and all the main attractions were in walking distance of the Mariner. We especially enjoyed the afternoon Trad music at The Porter House, as well as exploring Westport House. Unfortunately, the weather knocked out our planned climb of Croagh Patrick, but when we return to do that we'll be sure to stay at the Mariner.

The room was spacious, big king bed. Breakfast was good. Right in town, so no driving necessary once parked. Easy access to public parking across the street (2 Euros for whole day).
The shower: solid 1/2 glass wall, open in the back. The shower itself (water flow, controls) is fine, but water drains very slowly, so if you don't move along, you risk overflowing (within 3.5 minutes) onto the bathroom floor, because the lip of the shower floor is only about 1/4". Brought it to staff attention, was told they're all like that, perhaps because the hair catcher under the grate is too fine to let the water drain easily. Since we only stayed one night, we just dealt with it, but it should be addressed. Only semi-negative thing, not a deal breaker (for one night).

Location, location, location! Right in the middle of town, could walk everywhere from this modern and comfortable hotel. The breakfasts were great and the two girls who were serving us both mornings were the best as was the gentlemen who checked us in - great staff all around! Also, anyone with a car, there is a paid parking lot across the street (maybe a 60 second walk) from the front door and it's only 2 Euros for 24 hours so super reasonable and extremely close.

This hotel felt like a US Holiday Inn Express to us. It was clean, facilities were fine, but it was nothing special. We appreciated being right in Westport and walking distance to everything in town.
This hotel is on a street adjacent to the main streets in Westport, which is nice in some ways, but it is a major road into/out of town and therefore has quite a bit of traffic. It was noisy overnight and very early in the morning (garbage trucks?). Parking is not included and was a bit confusing--the front desk staff were not terribly clear in their communication about parking, either the evening of arrival or the next morning (2 different staff people, neither of whom were Irish). There is a LOT of vehicle traffic in Westport and it was difficult to even get the car turned around to get to the parking lot. We had traveled for over 10 days in Ireland (Dublin and around the south and west coasts) prior to our arrival in Westport and this was by far the most difficulty we had navigating local traffic in a small town, so not having parking was a major downside to this property.
