Was a great location, was very private and very quiet. Security was excellent hotel had a gate that required a security fob to enter. Breakfast was excellent as well. All staff were excellent.
We used the spa area and the jacuzzi was not hot and only a few jets worked and when you pressed the master the bubbles and flow was so strong it pushed you off of the seats. The sauna did not get hot either could feel cold air coming up from the floor and the last time didn’t turn on at all. The bed was very large but was starting to sag and we had two lamps in the room that did not work at all.

We booked a suite with a huge terrace, with an absolutely incredible view, and with a private hot tub, and although it was very pricey, especially for the off-season, we thought it was worth it. Our view was stunning and visiting in a cooler month like November, it was really nice to get in the hot tub after a day of sightseeing or after dinner. The room had everything we needed, though it was a little smaller than I expected. It was very clean though. And breakfast was amazing! That was definitely a highlight as well. We got made to order items like omelettes every day plus coffee drinks, and then the buffet options were really nice and fresh too. They also provided gluten-free options for me like breads and muffins. It’s a beautiful property and I really enjoyed the artwork in the common areas.
I thought the mattress was fairly hard and overall not that comfortable. I prefer memory foam or something softer, and I think for the price they could upgrade the mattresses.

We stayed in the Jacuzzi 1 room and it has a wonderful view of the city. The staff was so very nice. We enjoyed the breakfast, daily cake left on the table, indoor spa, location, and quiet atmosphere of Casa Balthazar. Thank you everyone for making us stay enjoyable.

It was unexpected how beautiful this place was and such an oasis in a busy area. There were lovely touches such as antique furniture, honor-system bar and cake served every afternoon.
We stayed in the apartment overlooking Rosseio and the castle. We really felt like we were integrated into Lisbon.
Because there is a restaurant at the end of the street, our uber driver was not able to drop us off at the entrance of the hotel.

Balthazar is so unassuming from the exterior. In fact you may think you made a wrong turn as it is tucked away in the heart of Lisbon on a small dead end. However, as soon as you are greeted and enter through the gate, you are transported to an absolute oasis. Staff greets you with a smile and a tour. Your luggage is carried to your room. Did I mention it is gorgeous? A combination of historical structure with tasteful modern art. The service, amenities, rooms, and facilities are simply perfect. Fresh cakes daily, a spa, a pool, breakfast, and a premium honesty bar to name a few. The beds and bathrooms are modern, large, and clean. There is a gated parking lot for those who drove. Further, you are literally in the midst of the best food, shopping, and entertainment Lisbon has to offer. This is simply the best place to stay in Lisbon.

We are a family of 8 and all loved our 4 night stay. Position is perfect - close to everything. We felt very safe and in our own oasis in this immaculately kept boutique hotel with carefully curated art. Lovely pool area to cool down beside, free spa area, free cake and coffee whenever you want and fresh and ample breakfast including choice of eggs your way. However the standout was the staff. Every single person working there was amazing - could not do enough for you and so friendly & genuinely kind. Thank you Ruth and all for a truly wonderful stay.

The hotel staff were exceptional. We were arrived in Lisbon after a tiring flight, were dropped off by Uber around the corner and were unsure of the best way to get to the hotel with our heavy luggage. We called and a minute later, a brawny guy came to our rescue and carried our luggage to the hotel with a smile. All the staff were helpful with great recommendations for dinners etc.
The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the linens special. The water was fiercely hot. The bathroom fixtures looked brand new.
Breakfast is in a lovely room. Fresh squeezed orange juice, honey dripping from a honey comb and a nice viariety of fruits, breads, made to order omelets etc. Again the staff could not be more accommodating.
We visited at a very hot time of year and the AC made the room fiercely cold. Yay!
The location is ideal for walking everywhere you want to be in Lisbon.
There was a beautiful free spa with steam room, sauna and "hot tub". The hot tub is at 89F (which I think now is typical for Portugal?) We would have gone in if it were over 100F.

A unique experience at a one-of-a-kind property, located in a prime spot for walking (or taking the metro) to all of the highlights in Lisbon, Sintra, etc. Especially helpful recommendations from the staff. Delicious breakfast with everything you would want. A peaceful oasis with a spectacular view in the middle of a very busy city. Highly recommend and already miss our stay here!

We fell in love with Casa Balthazar for it's very human, personal atmosphere - something you rarely find in big chain hotels. A big part of that feeling came from Yuran, the kind and helpful young man at the reception. Always smiling, attentive and ready to assist, he made us feel truly welcome from the moment we arrived to the evening before our early departure. We felt truly cared for. Beautifully served breakfast was delicious and generous, there is always a coffee and tea and a cake that you cannot resist available in a common area near reception. Our room was tastefully decorated and the bedding and linens were impeccable. It felt like staying in someone's beautiful home than a hotel. We were sad to leave. Thank you, dear Casa Balthazar!
