Although badly understaffed, those present were professional and worked hard to get us booked in. There were huge delays due to mass arrival and severe short staffing, so there were endless complaints from customers, but the reception staff were smiling and welcoming and genuinely did their best.
Like other Brittania hotels, the mattresses were painfully uncomfortable. Far too many springs but no mattress toppers to create a comfort layer. Spent most of the night getting up or sitting up to ease the pain on my sides.
Also, the cost of the buffet breakfast is far too high. £36 per day for a family of three when you can get a better quality one from Wetherspoons just up the toad for £16.
Smoking around the entrances. This hotel has a strict no smoking policy inside and in the areas outside. When coming into the main lobby, all you can smell is the cigarette smoke from people standing just outside the doors, and the ground is covered in cigarette buts. When you're sitting in the bar for family entertainment, any time anyone opens the outside door, you get a blast of cigarette smoke coming in. No effort was made to prevent this, and staff were often seen just walking past smokers.

This is 2nd time I've visited norbeck and I love the variety of facilities it has for everyone . It's in a great location as I prefer to be away from the busy side later at night it's very relaxing in the hotel.
Staff are always kind and helpful.

The swimming pool and breakfast
Had no heating in room. Had a baby and 2 toddlers. Went to reception who sent an electric heater which was no good as kids touched it. Only had 2 plug sockets in room .bath had holes in and was leaking. Window was blowing a gale through when shut. Never changed beds or towels when asked I was told only wen u leave.

Didn't like anything about Norbreck
It took 3 rooms to get it right for use first room was not the room that was shown on booking .com second room was damp mould holes in the wall paint falling of the walls a bed that's was not level and I taken. pictures and took them to show the manager of Norbreck and I said this is not on so he showed me round a few rooms the second room he showed me was OK to a standard but sum things in the room is not hotel standard we have had to put up with the smell of cannabis and people smoking it around which was not good for my partner to be around as she has epilepsy and when we ask people to move from use thay got abit aggressive and there is security on at night but nothing was said to them about smoking it one night police and ambulance turned up because a man ad over dose on voka who was violent was not aload in to the hotel till thay had took him away in the ambulance. Rooms not cleaned until you leave it stated on a leaflet thay give you in the room swimming pool you have to pay for which is should be with in the price that you pay for and pay to use the wi/fi the lift was dodgy we thought we was going to be stuck in it entertainment was not good at all sum staff very rude to my partner she asked if thay had change and he was very cocky towards her about asking for the change bed cover didn't fit the duvet and very expensive to eat in there this is not a place I wouldn't recommend my family and friends to stay there at all this is not good for your booking. Com and manager of Norbreck said your page is wrong

Checking in, had paid for early check in, actually charged 3 times no refund as yet, staff either incompetent or poorly trained, certainly some of the comments were very unprofessional, checking took approx 15 minutes.
The room was fair, paid extra for the sea view, ok.
Bathroom, not sure when last cleaned, or reasonably thoroughly cleaned.
Rubbish under the bed, not impressed
Food, ok, breakfast was the best meal of the offering during my stay

Dirty, noisy. Disrespectful residents being loud, smoking cigarettes and weed. Felt like we were in a halfway house.
Rooms were not good, filthy carpets, stains on walls. Stained towels and bedding. Pretty shocking for £89 a night stay for a family room. Had to have phone running with loud white noise all night so our grandchildren could sleep. Walls are paper thin!!! The place has some really beautiful old features and was obviously once a grand building.
I would absolutely not stay there again, let alone take my grandchildren back to be subjected to smelling drugs constantly and secondhand smoke, not to mention the disgusting hygiene standards of the rooms. I can see from previous reviews that the management are just continuing to let this happen. What kind of establishment are you running there?
I also see that you have to have security guards on staff. I am not at all surprised judging by some of the unsavoury characters we saw there.
For nearly £100 a night I would expect so much better. I can see that others have paid as low as £28 for a room for a night. I was totally ripped off and shall be looking into getting refunded for this appalling stay!
