Pool was a good addition to our stay. Not far away from attractions. Gave us a discount for parking.

Lovely hotel, staff very helpful - room amazing, plenty of room, very bright, bathroom was small but was big enough for our needs, lovely the separate toilet and it being situated furthest from bed. Lovely the gym and pool access, lovely bar with live music. Situated by grassmarket. Would definitely go back and stay in other Novahotels
Parking is very limited but that’s to be expected in a city hotel

No air conditioning- the room was an uncomfortable temperature to sleep in although a fan was provided in the room. Unfortunately didn’t have a cot set up in the room as requested (assumption there was none available). Also we couldn’t access the internet via TV which means you only have access to normal freview channels

The location and the property itself are great. We are a family of 4, and it’s not easy to find hotels in the UK with two queen beds like we’re accustomed to in Canada, but the Novotels I’ve been to have had great options for sofa beds for our kids that are just as comfortable as a regular bed. Sofa beds in Canada are rarely comfortable, so it was a pleasant surprise that this isn’t true at Novotel. Breakfast was also included which is hard to find these days!
Unfortunately, I found the the front desk people quite unfriendly-the man and woman that were there upon our arrival and then one of the men that was there when we checked out all seemed quite unhappy and not like the friendly kind of staff you’d find at most hotels. We had to leave at 5:30am to go to the airport so unfortunately we couldn’t take advantage of the free breakfast. The lady that checked us in said they could give us a breakfast to go, which we appreciated, but then they didn’t give it to us the next morning. I’m sure it was just an oversight as it was early, and I hadn’t remembered to ask about it either. I was mostly bothered by the attitudes of the front desk people. Something like that would keep me from booking there again in the future, which is a shame as it’s a nice hotel.

Good location, quiet and a few steps from the center. The kid liked the swimming pool.
The room plan is a bit odd, very little place for the clothes. But the ironing board was there!

Location was perfect. We couldn’t ask for more.
Barking dog few rooms down from us. For a 4 star hotel with a swimming pool there was no slippers provided and people were using their shoes inside the swimming pool. In my personal opinion the hotel is OK, but definitely not good value for money.

We didn’t like the situation with the pool. It’s unclear how they let people in. First, we were told to call from our room when we want to go, and if there’s availability, they’ll let us know. Then we were told there’s a sign-up sheet. Yet some people just walk in without any reservation.
