Thank you , Nick, for the hospitality and extra thanks for the 4 pm sherry! We love the history and feel of the building and room. It truly embraces the spirit of San Francisco. Great restaurants (breakfast at Mama's, dinner at Mona Lisa #3, the Stinking Rose, and Piccolo Forno) , cafes and bars ( we love Johnny at Comstock) and the Washington Square Park are convenient delights. You can get your dog fix at Washington Square, too! Great walking neighborhood and if you're feeling energetic, walk up to and around Coit Tower and take in those terrific views! And a visit to the iconic City Lights Bookstore is a treat.
We were on the second floor. A recirculating pump for hot water and volume control on the shower will cut down on water wasted waiting for hot water.

I would recommend this hotel again and again! We walked from this hotel to Chinatown, North Beach, Club Fugazi, all the shops and eateries.

Very dark rooms and hallways. Many steep stairs, to just the 1st floor, no elevator. Overpriced.

The location was perfect could walk, bus or cable car everywhere. Amazing pastries for breakfast and great Coffee at the cafe downstairs.

The hotel in general was good. Location, rooms, cleaning and staff were very nice.
The lights are very week in the rooms. It's ok for resting but if you loose something or just need more light, this "darkness" is a little bit annoying.

Location was perfect. Close to the Bay and Union Square, great restaurants everywhere.
The entry stairs were very steep and difficult to get luggage up them. Not ideal if you have a large suitcase.

extremely good location in North beach small charming and a bit eccentric hotel. very good shower very clean very nice staff feel very authentic Front bedrooms seem larger & lighter but noisier than the one in the back . Next time we will book one of these.
our bedroom was at the back . so very quite but not very light and quite small .
